Faith & Economics contains academic articles, surveys, and book reviews that offer fresh perspectives from the Christian tradition on topics and fields in economics, and offers articles and reviews on topics of particular interest to economists with affinities for the Christian tradition.
Faith & Economics encourages ACE members and interested scholars to submit articles for review. F&E’s standard practice is to review all submissions in a double-blind peer-review process, and we aim to provide a decision to authors within three months of submission.
Articles are indexed by the Journal of Economic Literature, and are available in EconLit, and the American Theological Libraries Association Religion Database (ATLA).
The executive editor welcomes inquiries regarding the appropriateness of an idea or manuscript in advance of submission.
Faith & Economics welcomes submissions of original research from all subfields of economics for peer review. We have a particular focus on contributions that relate the Christian tradition to the discipline of economics, and research that has relevance to substantial ethical questions or religious activity. In addition to original empirical and theoretical research however, the journal also invites the submission of a variety of other kinds of scholarly writing:
Literature Reviews
Systematic reviews of published research in a subfield of economics, or relating to a focused research question, can provide a great service to other researchers. Faith & Economics is particularly interested in publishing articles that summarize an important literature in economics while also providing some interaction with a Christian theological tradition or Christian ethical principles.
Symposia
F&E often publishes Collections of essays around a theme or focused on a recent important book are of interest to the journal, particularly if they provide multiple opposing perspectives on an important topic. These collections can be submitted as a set, or can be organized in cooperation with the journal editors.
Viewpoint Essays
F&E is willing to, on occasion, publish shorter argumentative essays about the practice of economics, important policy issues, or ethical questions related to economics. These essays will undergo peer review for quality or argument and use evidence, but need not contain original research or empirical results.
Extended Book Reviews
In addition to the traditional single-book reviews, the journal welcomes longer review essays of multiple related books, or essays providing more substantial interaction with a single book of interest.
