We are pleased to announce our second plenary speaker at the Association of Christian Economists Conference taking place July 17-19, 2025, in Santa Barbara, California – Dr. Brian Fikkert.
The title of Brian’s talk is “Practicing Economics in Light of God’s Story”.
Brian is the Founder of the Chalmers Center for Economic Development at Covenant College, where he also serves as a Professor of Economics and Community Development. Brian’s career has focused on poverty alleviation in both the U.S. and Majority World. Through his work with the Chalmers Center, he has particular experience in helping churches and Christian organizations to promote holistic transformation for people who are poor. Brian received a Ph.D. in Economics from Yale University, specializing in International Economics and Economic Development. Prior to serving at Covenant College, Brian was Assistant Professor of Economics at the University of Maryland and a research fellow at the Center for Institutional Reform and the Informal Sector.
