Economics for the Common Good: The Work of Christian Economists
Sponsored by:

The Department of Economics and Business at Hope College
Hope College, July 20th to July 22nd, 2023
The economics discipline is at the center of some of the biggest questions that humans face, including those about poverty, wealth, the role of the state, inequality, growth, the cost of living, migration, education, and family. Christian thinking has often motivated scholars to delve deeply into these important questions, sometimes offering a distinct way of approaching our pursuit of the common good. In order to explore Christian’s work in the discipline of economics, and to spur Christian thinking about economic topics, the Association of Christian Economists invites all interested scholars to join us for an academic conference at Hope College in Holland, MI, in July of 2022.
Location
The conference will take place at the Haworth Hotel and Conference Center and at the nearby Martha Miller Center for Global Communication, both on the campus of Hope College in Holland, MI.
Hope College’s campus, green and full of bursting flower beds in July, abuts Holland’s attractive downtown with its many shops, restaurants, and brew pubs. The beautiful sandy beaches of Lake Michigan are close by. We anticipate a convivial time of scholarly discussion, fellowship, and conversation over the course of the meetings.
Registration
The conference has been generously sponsored by a gift to ACE, as well as by the Department of Economics & Business at Hope College, which has helped us keep the registration cost reasonable.
- Non-Member $215
- ACE Member $195
- Student (undergraduate or graduate) $130
Lodging and Meals
If you have not already done so, we encourage you to work out your hotel accommodations quickly, and we hope everyone will consider staying at the Haworth Hotel, which is where much of the conference will take place. The hotel is conveniently located on campus and only a block away from downtown Holland. Lodging rooms are available on a first-come, first-served basis at $175/per night using the ACE Conference Group Code (2206HOPECO). To reserve, please call 616-395-7200 directly or book online. If Haworth Hotel is full, other options right downtown include Courtyard by Marriott and the City Flats Hotel. There are a variety of other hotels and Airbnb options in the area, but transportation to and from the conference will not be provided.
All meals are included as a part of the conference, from dinner on the evening of Thursday the 20th through lunch on Saturday the 22nd.
Please forward all questions or concerns to conference@christianeconomists.org. We are looking forward to seeing you all in July.
